Adam's Delicatessen: A Taste of Brooklyn's Finest Sandwiches and Desserts

A traditional Polish gem in Greenpoint, this bakery/grocery offers cured fish, salted meats, pastries, and their famous meringues. It may look unassuming but it stuck around for decades for a reason!

My review is for the zebra cake which was good and tasty (not so sweet) but the lady at the counter not the nicest :)

So I've only had dessert here but the dessert alone is 5 star. Started with tiramisu. Incredibly creamy, rich with espresso flavor and soft lady fingers. Perfect! And I got a solid 4 servings for less than 5 bucks. Next up was the fruit cheese cake. Creamy, just sweet enough. Sweet lil polish family runs the joint. Welcome to Greenpoint!

What I love about living in Greenpoint is a place like Adam's Delicatessen is thankfully still here and still going strong. The place is immaculate with sweet young girls behind the counters and a tough no nonsense lady running the place. This is a European style Delicatessen and baked goods shop. Sure, they have house cured hams, kielbases, kabanosy, cheeses etc but you really come here for the incredible homemade baked goods. All the baking here is done on premises, and superb. Standouts are the cherry, and poppy cheesecakes, coffee cake, and fruit/apricot filled rugaliky (rugelach) and of course the babkas and assorted Polish cookies (chocolate, poppy, linzer). If you see the potato babka grab it! They only make it occasionally and it is savory with shredded potatoes, onions and bacon bits. I am not kidding, prices here are less than half what all those crummy commercial New Brooklyn cafés now charge. I stop here on the way to my Moms out on Long Island or The City and bring cookies and cakes for our office parties. My mom and employees are very pleased and ask "where did you get this!?” Don't be a New Brooklyn Gentrifying tool. Support these independently owned old Brooklyn businesses before they are all gone.

With so much of Polish Greenpoint disappearing, Adam's is one of the remaining Polish meat markets worth visiting. Thick cut bacon, fresh fish on Fridays, fantastic butcher all around. If you're local to Greenpoint or just passing through on a weekend, this is a great spot for meats.

I've been drawn into this cute mum-and-pop store by the pastries at the shop window. The little caramel cookies are delicious! I also like to pick up some liver sausage when I visit. I've only been here on weekends and the lady behind the counter is really sweet. I hope to try their perogies next time.

Lived in Greenpoint 10 years. Finally stopped in here. Terrific, authentic European Style delicatessen with excellent house smoked hams, kielbasy, kabenosy, sausage, cheeses. The real standout for me would be the homemade Polish baked goods up front. This place has the best cheesecake in NYC! Fluffy, deliciousness. Great marbled, cherry or plain. Also love their meringues, cookies, apricot rugaliky, babkas. Prices are incredibly fair. Much appreciated in a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood like Greenpoint where those who know appreciate places like Adam's Delicatessen.
